He reviewed my resume, made recommendations for applications, commented on other companies, contacted internal and external colleagues on my behalf, and performed mock interviews. And even though it meant I would leave his team, Jim provided counsel and guidance when I applied for a different position within the company. Such demonstrates Jim’s commitment to an individual’s professional development and personal needs ahead of his own desires. I do not know many who would have taken personal time to support a subordinate in such a manner. Jim always makes himself available, even if we have met recently. If he is not immediately available, he makes a commitment to respond and does so unfailingly. He is amiable (which sets the tone for the work) and reasonable in his expectations.
